MT2024-33 A Phase 1/2a Multicenter Ascending Dose Study to Evaluate the Safety of HA-1 Minor Histocompatibility Antigen-Reactive TCR-Modified T Cells (BSB-1001) in Patients Undergoing HLA-Matched Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant for AML, ALL or MDS
This study is designed to determine whether BSB-1001 - a product made of genetically modified cells - is safe and possibly effective when given to patients with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), or Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) who are also receiving a stem cell transplant with a matched donor.
• ages 18 - 70 years inclusive, having a alloHCT.
• any of the following high-risk hematologic malignancies: • AML which has been treated with at least two lines of therapy, and refractory or relapsed • ALL • MDS after at least one line of therapy, which includes hypomethylating agent(s) and venetoclax and must be high or very high risk • AML patients who have been treated with at least two lines of therapy, and refractory or relapsed
• suitable for one of the approved conditioning regimens as defined in the protocol
• must have an identified donor that is HA 1-negative with 10/10 matched related donor or 12/12 matched unrelated donor

The primary purpose of this study is to record outcomes and patient characteristics in the Cancer Center’s and BMT databases for patients who are undergoing an allogeneic (donor) hematopoietic stem cell transplant. The data will be analyzed for transplant “milestones” such as time to blood count recovery (engraftment) and how patients are doing at 3 months and 6 months after the transplant. Participation in this study will not alter treatment or medical care. All information for this study will be collected from medical records.

A Randomized Phase II Study Comparing Sequential High dose Testosterone and Enzalutamide to Enzalutamide alone in Asymptomatic Men with Castration Resistant Metastatic Prostate Cancer
The goal of this current study is to test whether men with prostate cancer that is getting worse after treatment with hormone therapy and abiraterone respond better to alternating treatment with testosterone and enzalutamide vs. enzalutamide alone. We are testing to see which is better at stopping tumor growth that can be seen on a bone scan or CT scan and the effect of each regimen on lowering Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA values). Participants will be in the study for 6 to 24 months.

MT2015-29 : Myeloablative Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation Using a Related or Adult Unrelated Donor for the Treatment of Hematological Disorders
The primary research element is to determine whether a graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis regimen of post-transplant cyclophosphamide, tacrolimus and MMF will reduce the likelihood of chronic GVHD in patients receiving a standard hematopoietic myeloablative stem cell transplant. The treatment related components of this protocol are established clinical practices. We are looking at cumulative incidence of chronic GVHD requiring systemic immunosuppressive treatment at 1 year post-transplant.

Immune Modulation Associations With Urinary tract Infection In People With Neurogenic Bladder.
The goal of this study is to understand how urine and bladder tissue changes from infection, or a bladder that does not function normally, in people who use a catheter to empty their bladder. This may help future people because it can help determine who needs antibiotics to treat an infection in the bladder, and will help avoid the cost and side effects of using antibiotics in people who do not have a true infection. This study will take less than 1 hour – the time required to provide a urine sample in clinic. Or, if a participant is undergoing bladder Botox injection, the time necessary to participate in the study will add approximately 5 minutes to the total surgery time.

• without diagnosis of neurogenic bladder (NGB)
• OR NGB managed with bladder botulinum toxin injections with/without recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) (may have an active UTI)

DAS181-3-01: A Phase III Randomized Placebo-Controlled Study to Examine the Efficacy and Safety of DAS181 for the Treatment of Lower Respiratory Tract Parainfluenza Infection in Immunocompromised Subjects
This research study is for participants who have a weakened immune system (are immunocompromised), have a lower lung infection and are currently using a machine or device to help them breathe. The study will look at whether the study drug, DAS181, works and how safe it is compared with a placebo in adults who have a weakened immune system (immunocompromised) and a parainfluenza virus (PIV) infection of the lower respiratory tract. A placebo looks the same as the study drug but does not contain any active ingredients.

MT2019-38: Development and Psychometric Testing of a Pediatric Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease (GVHD) Symptom Scale (PCSS)
The purpose of this study is to develop a questionnaire specifically designed for children and adolescents, which will help health care providers to better measure how bothersome symptoms of cGVHD are for children and adolescents living with cGVHD. Another purpose of this study is to design a caregiver companion questionnaire, to allow caregivers to measure how bothersome the symptoms of cGVHD are for their child/adolescent.

MT2024-19: Registry and Biological Specimen Repository for Inherited Disorders with High Risk for Squamous Cell Carcinoma Development
This study is for people who have Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), Fanconi Anemia (FA) or a bone marrow failure disorder that puts them at a higher risk of developing a form of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). To learn more about these disorders and their relationship to cancer, researchers are collecting skin and blood samples to study in the lab. Blood and skin donated to the will be used by researchers at the University of Minnesota in studying the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of these disorders. We expect that this study will take about two hours, or the amount of time it takes to check in for a clinic visit and collect the specimens.

Concurrent Aerobic Exercise and Cognitive Training to Prevent Alzheimer's in at-risk Older Adults (The Exergames Telerehabilitation Study)
The purpose of this study is to test the effects of an in person or home-based exergame intervention on improving cognition and fitness in community-dwelling older adults with memory complaints. The exergame refers to a new low-cost virtual reality cognitive game with cycling. We expect that participants will be in this research study for 4 months. Intervention sessions will require approximately 1 hour, 3 days per week for 3 months.
• at least 65 years old
• experiencing a memory or cognitive problem
• speak English
• no physical problems that prevent exercise
• diagnosis of dementia or mild cognitive impairment
• neurological or major psychiatric disorder, alcohol/chemical dependency or recent medical condition (anesthesia or COVID-19 brain fog) likely causing cognitive impairment

COG AREN1921 - Treatment of Newly Diagnosed Diffuse Anaplastic Wilms Tumors (DAWT) and Relapsed Favorable Histology Wilms Tumors (FHWT)
This phase II trial studies how well combination chemotherapy works in treating patients (≤ 30 years old) with newly diagnosed stage II-IV diffuse anaplastic Wilms tumors (DAWT) or favorable histology Wilms tumors (FHWT) that have come back (relapsed).This trial may help doctors find out what effects, good and/or bad, regimen UH-3 (vincristine, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, carboplatin, etoposide, and irinotecan) has on patients with newly diagnosed DAWT and standard risk relapsed FHWT (those treated with only 2 drugs for the initial WT)and regimen ICE/Cyclo/Topo (ifosfamide, carboplatin, etoposide, cyclophosphamide, and topotecan) has on patients with high and very high risk relapsed FHWT (those treated with 3 or more drugs for the initial WT).

Impact of a full-mouth electronic toothbrush on indicators of gingivitis and patient perceptions: A randomized clinical trial
The purpose of this trial is to investigate a full-mouth electronic toothbrush (FMET) and foam system compared to a conventional electronic toothbrush (ETB) and dentifrice during a 30-day period to evaluate the impact on clinical indicators of gingivitis, plaque, safety, and patient perceptions.
• diagnosis of mild to moderate gingivitis
• minimum of five natural teeth in each quarter of the mouth
• willing to stop all professional oral hygiene care
• willing to stop use of any other dental cleaning aids (dental floss, water flossers, interdental brushes, dental or tooth picks, mouthwash, etc.)
• access to personal email account and a device connected to the internet
• aggressive, necrotizing, uncommon periodontal disease, or any uncontrolled periodontal condition
• unable to independently brush teeth

Ankle Position Sense Acuity in People with Parkinson's Disease Experiencing Freezing of Gait and Its Relationship to Gait
This study aims to investigate whether there is difference in ankle position sense acuity between people with Parkinson's with freezing of gait and without freezing of gait. It also examines the relationship between position sense acuity and severity of freezing of gait, and gait measurements.
• 50 to 80 years old
• diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinsons Disease (PD) as determined by a movement disorder neurologist
• PD severity is mild to moderate
• significant central or peripheral nervous system disease
• previous exposure to chemotherapy
• history of lower limb surgery or lower limb fractures within the last 6 months
• amputation or joint replacement of any part of the leg
• implanted deep brain stimulation or other neurosurgery to treat PD

Can spectral power and coherence reflect the integrity of the efferent cerebellar cortical pathway in cerebellar mutism syndrome?
This study will be measuring brain activity using EEG and assessing motor skills and speech in children following cancerous brain tumor resection. No direct cancer treatments or objectives are being targeted.
• Cerebellar Mutism Syndrome (CMS) & Comparison (without CMS) Groups: ages 10 years 0 months to 25 years 11 months of age & fluent in English (parents/guardian do not need to be fluent in English)
• For those with Cerebellar Mutism Syndrome (CMS): history of resection of posterior fossa tumor at least 2 years before starting the study and at least 3 months post chemotherapy and radiation treatment
• Comparison group without CMS: any developmental conditions including ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, speech/language delay or disorder, motor delay/disorder, cognitive delay and/or diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
• any genetic condition

Intermittent Pneumatic Compression with and without Exercise to Improve Functioning in Peripheral Artery Disease: The INTERCEDE TRIAL (INTERCEDE)
The purpose of this study is to establish whether the device, intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC), both with and without walking exercise, can improve the ability to walk and prevent decline in the ability to walk for people with PAD. Intermittent pneumatic compression consists of blood pressure cuffs that are wrapped around the lower legs (below the knees) that inflate three times per minute. These cuffs may improve blood flow to the lower legs and feet.
• diagnosis of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) based on specific criteria that study staff will review
• above or below-knee amputation
• wheelchair-bound
• currently have a foot ulcer on bottom of foot or ongoing infection of the toes, foot, or lower extremity
• walking is limited by a symptom other than PAD
• major surgery, revascularization, or orthopedic surgery in the past 3 months or planned in the next 12 months
• already exercising at a level consistent with exercise intervention. Current or recent participation in exercise rehabilitation (within the past three months)

A Clinical Trial of Cognitive Multisensory Rehabilitation for Sensory and Motor Recovery in Adults with Spinal Cord Injury
Almost 300,000 Americans with a spinal cord injury or disorder (SCI/D) suffer from reduced or complete loss of sensory and motor function, which can compromise functional independence and quality of life. The purpose of this study is to find better treatment options for improving sensation and movement after SCI/D.
• 18 to 75 years old
• incomplete or complete SCI/D of more than 3months
• medically stable.
• MRI contra-indications (stabilizing hardware is typically MRI safe)
• uncontrolled seizure disorder
• cognitive impairment and/or communicative disability (e.g., due to brain injury) that prevents following directions or learning

CAMBRIA-2: A Phase III, Open-Label, Randomised Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Camizestrant (AZD9833, a Next Generation, Oral Selective Estrogen Receptor Degrader) vs Standard Endocrine Therapy (Aromatase Inhibitor or Tamoxifen) as Adjuvant Treatment for Patients With ER+/HER2- Early Breast Cancer and an Intermediate-High or High Risk of Recurrence Who Have Completed Definitive Locoregional Treatment and Have No Evidence of Disease (CAMBRIA-2)
This is study to determine if a new drug, camizestrant, improves outcomes compared to usual adjuvant endocrine therapy for people who have ER+/HER2- early breast cancer with intermediate-high or high risk for disease recurrence. People who have completed initial therapy (with or without chemotherapy) are eligible for the trial. Treatment is planned to continue for 7 years.
• 18 years to 130 years old
• confirmed ER+/HER2- early-stage resected invasive breast cancer
• may have received up to 12 weeks of endocrine therapy
• start the study within 12 months of definitive breast surgery

This study is about how pain affects drinking behaviors in people with chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
• 21+ years of age, with a valid ID
• Fluent in English
• Report drinking ≥ 2 days/week
• Women must report ≥1 drink/day on average over the last 6 months.
• Men must report ≥2 drink/day on average over the last 6 months
• Diagnosis of TMD, myalgia, TMJ, or a combination
• Have a smartphone with Internet
• History of any psychotic disorder, current major depression, substance use disorder or current alcohol use disorder
• Serious medical illness
• Under-controlled hypertension or diabetes or neurological disease
• Impaired cognitive function
• Women who are pregnant breastfeeding, or intending to become pregnant
• Loss of sensation in lower legs or physical inability to complete study tasks

Role of Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Type 1 Gaucher Disease (GD1): Potential Use of Antioxidant/Anti-inflammatory Medications
The purpose of this study is to measure levels of blood and brain chemicals related to oxidative stress and inflammation in healthy volunteers and individuals with Type 1 Gaucher disease (GD1) to see if these levels are altered by GD1. We will also examine if there is a change in these blood and brain chemicals after participants begin taking oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC), which is available both as a prescription medication and a natural product that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
• 18 years or older
• diagnosis of Type 1 Gaucher's Disease (GD1) who are medically stable
• on a stable medication therapy for 2 years, or if dosage or drug has been changed it has been at least 6 months and condition is stable
• women who are pregnant or breast feeding
• asthma that is currently being treated
• unable to have a MRI scan
A Phase 3 Randomized, Open-label Study of MK-5684 Versus Alternative Abiraterone Acetate or Enzalutamide in Participants With Metastatic Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC) Previously Treated With Next-generation Hormonal Agent (NHA) and Taxane-based Chemotherapy (OMAHA-003)
This trial is testing MK-5684 in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) previously treated with next-generation Hormonal Agent (NHA) and Taxane-based chemotherapy. This trial will compare MK-5684 to abiraterone acetate and enzalutamide. Abiraterone acetate and enzalutamide are standard treatments for mCRPC. The purpose of this trial is to test the safety of the trial drug, MK-5684, see how well the drug works, and see how the body handles the drug. We also want to see if participants who get MK-5684 live longer compared to those who get abiraterone acetate or enzalutamide.

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to assess the safety and efficacy of nebulized PC945 when added to systemic antifungal therapy for the treatment of refractory invasive pulmonary aspergillosis
The purpose of this study is to learn about the safety and efficacy of PC945 when given in combination with the antifungal therapy that is normally given for this condition, also known as the standard of care (SoC). This study will also assess how PC945 is processed in the body (e.g., distributed, transformed, and removed) by measuring the levels of PC945 in your blood and lungs; this is called pharmacokinetics (PK).

A Phase 3, Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study of Levosimendan in Pulmonary Hypertension Patients With Heart Failure With Preserved Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (PH-HFpEF); LEVEL: LEVosimendan to Improve Exercise Limitation in Patients With PH-HFpEF (LEVEL)
Levosimendan has not been approved by the FDA to treat people who have PH-HFpEF or approved to be taken by mouth (orally). In this study, we will measure the amount of levosimendan in blood at various times and evaluate the change in participants 6-Minute Walk Distance.
• 18 to 85 years old
• diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hypertension
• on stable doses of heart medication for at least 30 days
• there are specific requirements for birth control for women and men

• ability to walk is limited by anything other than symptoms (shortness of breath and fatigue) related to pulmonary hypertension
• other diagnosis related to heart function such as valve disease, cardiomyopathy, etc.

A Phase 3 Randomized, Placebo-controlled, Double-blind Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of BBP-418 (ribitol) in Patients with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy 21 (LGMD21) (Fortify)
This study will use BBP-418 study drug in patients with LGMD to assess the clinical biomarkers, efficacy and safety of BBP-418 during the 36 months treatment phase.
• 12 to 60 years of age
• genetically confirmed diagnosis of limb girdle muscular dystrophy
• have clinical symptoms of weakness
• weight at least 30 kg (66 lbs.)
• willing to use a highly effective method of birth control until 12 weeks after last dose of study medication
• any significant medical or mental health diagnosis including abnormal lab values (study staff will review)
• surgery for scoliosis or other indication planned during the time of the study
• use of ribose or other sugar alcohol-containing supplement within 90 days of staring the study
• use of a systemic corticosteroid for the treatment of muscular dystrophy within 90 days of starting the study
MT2013-31:Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Inherited Metabolic Disorders and Severe Osteopetrosis following Conditioning with Busulfan (Therapeutic Drug Monitoring), Fludarabine +/- ATG
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant in persons with an inherited metabolic disorder or osteopetrosis and if it is effective in reducing or slowing the symptoms associated with the genetic error. The study uses a chemotherapy conditioning regimen that prepares the body to accept the donor hematopoietic cells.

CANADIAN-AUSTRALASIAN RANDOMISED TRIAL OF SCREENING KIDNEY TRANSPLANT CANDIDATES FOR CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE (CARSK)
The current study is designed to determine which strategy (regular screening or screening only in the presence of symptoms) is more effective in preventing heart attacks in kidney transplant candidates. Another goal of the study is to determine whether biomarker tests are able to predict the need for regular CAD screening tests.
• Dialysis-dependent kidney failure and currently being assessed for OR active on the kidney transplant waiting list
• expected to require further screening for coronary artery disease (CAD) prior to transplant
• anticipated to undergo transplant more than 12 months from date of enrollment
• patients with signs or symptoms suggestive of uncontrolled cardiac disease such as unstable coronary syndromes, decompensated heart failure, uncontrolled arrhythmia, and severe valvular heart disease
• patients with other solid organ transplants
• multi-organ transplant candidates
• planned living donor transplant
Oxidative Stress Markers in Heart Failure II
This research is being done to better understand why people develop a type of heart failure where the heart contracts normally but does not relax well. By comparing levels of chemicals in the blood that are secreted by the body in subjects with normal hearts and in subjects with abnormal relaxation, we hope to gain a better understanding of why heart failure occurs.
• Looking for both healthy and diastolic dysfunction participants who have had an echo in the past 6 months
• Age greater than or equal to 18 years
• Transthoracic echocardiogram within 1 year prior to enrollment containing tissue Doppler, mitral inflow velocities, left ventricular ejection fraction and left ventricular end‐diastolic volume index data
• Able to provide written consent
• Healthy patients with an E/e’ ratio < 15
• Patients with asymptomatic diastolic dysfunction with an E/e’ ratio > 15
• Able to give a blood sample
• EF greater than or equal to 50%
• EF<50%
• Any regional wall motion defects, any valvular heart disease with greater than a mild stenosis or regurgitation, any congenital or other significant structural heart disease,
• Patients undergoing cancer treatment
• Patients with an anticipated life expectancy less than 18 months.
• Age < 75 years
• Previous hospital admission for acute heart failure
• History of NYHA Class II, III or IV functional status
• The need for loop diuretics specifically for heart failure at any time.
• History of congestive heart failure.
• History of coronary artery disease.
• History of myocardial infarction.
• Significant structural heart disease
• Evidence of infiltrative cardiac disease
• Atrial fibrillation (AF) within 6 weeks
• Rhythm other than sinus at enrollment
• Patient with a pacemaker
• Cardiogenic shock
• History of heart transplant or left ventricular assist device
• Hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
• Active infection including bacteremia
• Major trauma or surgery within 6 weeks
• Collagen vascular disease if on active treatment including steroids and other immunomodulating drugs
• Systemic steroid use within 6 week.
Pathogen Genomics Center of Excellence: Prospective Surveillance of Respiratory Pathogens and Antimicrobial Resistance in Diverse Regional Populations (MINNE-LOVE-2)
Respiratory illnesses, including ear and sinus infections, colds, and pneumonias, are among the most common infectious diseases affecting Minnesotans across their lifespan. These diseases can be caused by many different types of microbes—bacteria, viruses and fungi—and different types of microbes may require different kinds of treatment. This research is being done to learn more about the specific types of microbes that cause respiratory infections in children and adults across the state of Minnesota over time. Antimicrobial resistance happens when microbes develop the ability to defeat the drugs designed to kill them. Through this study, we will learn which types of genes are carried by microbes living in the respiratory tract by collecting and analyzing nasal and oral specimen.
• age at least 18 years and able to provide informed consent AND willing and able to collect nasal swabs and complete symptom questionnaires with symptomatic respiratory illness Or
• age less than 18 years within the same household of at least 1 adult participant in study AND parent/guardian available to provide informed consent AND self or parent/guardian willing and able to collect nasal swabs and complete symptom questionnaires with symptomatic respiratory illness
• presence of a condition or abnormality that in the opinion of the Investigator would compromise the safety of the participant or the quality of the data (e.g., parent not able to answer the questionnaire because of a psychological condition or an anxiety disorder that is severe)
• routine mucosal specimen collection is not medically advised (such as severe immunocompromising condition, bleeding disorder)
