Biomechanical Mechanisms of Soft Tissue Deformation during the Volleyball Spike

No current studies have examined in vivo glenohumeral kinematics during the overhead volleyball spike despite the high prevalence of spike-related shoulder pain. The extreme shoulder positions achieved by volleyball players during the spike motion may contribute to unique deformations that could result in structural change or pathology of the rotator cuff and long head biceps tendons. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which GH kinematics differ between SAB and a simulated volleyball spike at a self-selected position of ball contact.

• played at least 2 years of high school varsity-level volleyball and/or play competitive volleyball at the club level or NCAA D3/NAIA level or above
• have no shoulder pain that has resulted in removal from, or cessation of volleyball participation in the past 6 months
• have a negative clinical screening exam
• fluent in English

• any injuries, impairments, or pain of the hitting arm that limits participation in volleyball
• shoulder pain related to the cervical spine
• history of trauma and/or surgery of the hitting shoulder
• currently pregnant.

Prospective quantitative kinematic assessment of patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus

The purpose of this research is to better understand balance and walking in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus. Balance and walking problems in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus do not respond well to the typical medication treatments. This research study uses small wearable devices that attach to your clothing and can measure your body’s location while performing walking and balance tests.

COG ARST2032: A Prospective Phase 3 Study of Patients with Newly Diagnosed Very Low-risk and Low-risk Fusion Negative Rhabdomyosarcoma

Rhabdomyosarcoma is a type of cancer that occurs in the soft tissues in the body. This phase III trial aims to maintain excellent outcomes in patients with very low risk rhabdomyosarcoma (VLR-RMS) while decreasing the burden of therapy using treatment with 24 weeks of vincristine and dactinomycin (VA) and examines the use of centralized molecular risk stratification in the treatment of rhabdomyosarcoma. Another aim of the study it to find out how well patients with low risk rhabdomyosarcoma (LR-RMS) respond to standard chemotherapy when patients with VLR-RMS and patients who have rhabdomyosarcoma with DNA mutations get separate treatment. Finally, this study examines the effect of therapy intensification in patients who have RMS cancer with DNA mutations to see if their outcomes can be improved.

A Randomized Trial of Intra-Portal Alone Versus Intra- and Extra- Portal Transplantation of Pancreatic Islets After Total Pancreatectomy for Chronic Pancreatitis (iSite)

One treatment for certain types of chronic pancreatitis is total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT). In this procedure, the pancreas is removed (eliminating the source of the pain) and the islets, which produce insulin and other important hormones, are taken from the pancreas and transplanted in to the liver. This is a small study to evaluate a new procedure for transplanting some islets to a new location in the body.

AOST2031: A Phase 3 Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Open vs Thoracoscopic Management of Pulmonary Metastases in Patients With Osteosarcoma

This phase III trial compares the effect of open thoracic surgery (thoracotomy) to thoracoscopic surgery (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery or VATS) in treating patients with osteosarcoma that has spread to the lung (pulmonary metastases). Open thoracic surgery is a type of surgery done through a single larger incision (like a large cut) that goes between the ribs, opens up the chest, and removes the cancer. Thoracoscopy is a type of chest surgery where the doctor makes several small incisions and uses a small camera to help with removing the cancer. This trial is being done evaluate the two different surgery methods for patients with osteosarcoma that has spread to the lung to find out which is better.

Profiling of Adipose Tissue Depots and Immune Correlates

This is a study of individuals older than 18, undergoing abdominal surgery, and are amenable to fat samples being collected during their surgical procedure, with the option to participate in other tests that can provide information on insulin sensitivity and fat distribution. This study is trying to figure out how fat tissue is related to an individual's health status and health conditions, and the analysis of the aging of cells that make up the human body.

Tissue biopsies for the study of FSHD

Comparison of normothermia maintenance between resistive blanket and forced air warming systems in renal transplant surgery

The maintenance of normal body temperature is important for all patients undergoing anesthesia to maintain important body functions. To help patients maintain normal body temperature during the surgery, a warming device is used. This study will compare the effectiveness of a resistive blanket warming device to the standard of care forced air warming device.

A US Multi-center, Prospective, Non-interventional, Long-term, Effectiveness and Safety Study of Patients Treated with SKYTROFA (lonapegsomatropin) (SkybriGHt) (SkybriGHt)

Skytrofa is approved in the U.S. for sale and use in children with growth hormone deficiency (GHD). This study is being done to find out how safe and useful Skytrofa is for long-term treatment. A child’s care will follow the normal treatment practices at the clinic. There is no new treatment or medicine involved and no additional visits will be performed.

Prospective, Multicenter, Single-Arm Study of VanquishTM Water Vapor Ablation for PrOstate CanceR (VAPOR 2)

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of the Vanquish System treatment in men who have intermediate risk prostate cancer. COG AALL1621 - A Phase 2 Study of Inotuzumab Ozogamicin (NSC# 772518, IND#133494) in Children and Young Adults with Relapsed or Refractory CD22+ B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL)

This phase II trial studies how well inotuzumab ozogamicin works in treating younger patients (≥1 year and < 22 years ) with CD22 positive B acute lymphoblastic leukemia that has come back or does not respond to treatment. Immunotoxins, such as inotuzumab ozogamicin, are antibodies linked to a toxic substance and may help find cancer cells that express CD22 and kill them without harming normal cells.

Randomized Phase III Study of Combination AZD9291 (osimertinib) and Bevacizumab versus AZD9291 (osimertinib) Alone as First-Line Treatment for Patients with Metastatic EGFR-Mutant Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

This trial compares the effect of bevacizumab and osimertinib combination vs. osimertinib alone for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer that has spread outside of the lungs and has a change (mutation) in a gene called EGFR. Sometimes, mutations in this gene cause EGFR proteins to be made in higher than normal amounts on some types of cancer cells. This causes cancer cells to divide more rapidly.

Wearable sensors for the combined use of early detection of postural instability and fall risk prediction in Parkinson s disease patients

Balance and walking problems in patients with Parkinson’s Disease do not respond well to the typical medication or surgical treatments. This research study uses five small wearable devices that attach to clothing and can measure the body’s location while performing walking tests, balance tests, and normal daily activities. By comparing patients with Parkinson’s Disease to people of similar age without Parkinson’s Disease, we hope to learn important differences relevant to the walking and balance problems in Parkinson’s Disease

An Open-label, Phase 1/2 Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Single-dose PR001A in Infants with Type 2 Gaucher Disease

PR001A is designed to deliver a normal GBA1 gene copy into the body to increase the activity of GCase, which is low in Type 2 Gaucher Disease (GD2) patients. The new GBA1 gene will remain a child’s body cells for many years and possibly for the rest of their life. A participant will need one surgery during which the study drug will be given and will stay in the hospital for at least 48 hours following the surgery.

Assessments of sound perception and brain activation in response to paired sound and electrical stimulation of surface ear regions

We are investigating how paired non-invasive electrical stimulation of surface body regions and sound changes sound perception and tinnitus. Body stimulation regions include: external ear/behind the ear, shoulder, neck, forearm, hand, and upper arm. We aim to better understand the optimal conditions of this paired stimulation, which opens opportunities for applying this method to improving hearing loss or tinnitus. We are studying three groups of people: those with normal hearing, those with mild to moderate hearing loss, and those with tinnitus.

Determinants of Renal Structural Responses to Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) in Fabry Disease Study (LDN6702)

The effect of enzyme replacement therapy on how well your kidneys are responding to enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) is not clear from blood and urine tests alone, but may be more clear in comparisons of kidney biopsies performed before and some time after ERT has been initiated, and this is what we are focusing our study efforts on. The purpose of this study is to obtain your permission to allow us to study the kidney biopsy tissues (collected for medical reasons) after the regular routine studies have been completed. Through our special research measurements and additional study, we hope to be able to see and measure very specific changes in the kidney tissues from Fabry patients taking ERT. We also hope that through these studies of what happens within the kidney before and after starting ERT, we are able to reveal valuable information about the importance of factors like your age that you started ERT, the amount or dosage of ERT, and any differences seen between males and females.

Surgical Timing and Rehabilitation for Multiple Ligament Knee Injuries: A Multicenter Integrated Clinical Trial (Protocol # PRO16090503)

This study is being conducted to determine when is the best time to do surgery is and when to start rehabilitation after surgery for the treatment of a multiple ligament knee injury. The study will randomize (i.e. a coin toss) when you have surgery and when you begin rehabilitation (early or delayed surgery and early or delayed rehabilitation). The type of surgery is decided between you and your surgeon. Rehabilitation is tailored to the type of surgery you have. You will fill out some questionnaires and have your knee examined at your normal postsurgery appointments with your surgeon.

TScan Therapeutics is developing cellular therapies across multiple solid tumors in which the eligibility criteria require that participants have specific HLA types. The results from this screening study will be used to determine if participants meet the eligibility criteria and could potentially be enrolled in a future TScan treatment study.

MT2021-29: Evaluation of intravenous laronidase pharmacokinetics before and after hematopoietic cell transplantation in patients with mucopolysaccharidosis type IH

In this study, the researchers are collecting blood samples to learn more about laronidase treatment in children that receive a hematopoietic cell transplantation. The laronidase dose regimens used after a hematopoietic cell transplantation may differ from those administered before. This study will establish the basis for determining if there is a need to adjust laronidase dosing regimens after receiving a hematopoietic cell transplantation.

• meet protocol specific eligibility criteria for allogeneic HCT for MPS IH
• planning to receive laronidase both pre and post-transplant in an inpatient setting as part of standard-of-care treatment. Virtually all patients with MPSIH being considered for transplantation at the University of Minnesota are already receiving enzyme infusions, and it is standard practice to continue to give enzyme infusions to 8 weeks post-transplant. Therefore, participation will not modify the treatment course

A Randomized, Multicenter, Double-Masked, Vehicle-Controlled Phase 2/3 Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of NEXAGON? (Lufepirsen Ophthalmic Gel) in Subjects with Persistent Corneal Epithelial Defects (NEXPEDE-1) (NEXPEDE-1)

The clear layer at the front of the eye that covers the pupil and iris (colored part of the eye) is called the “cornea”. When the cornea is damaged, it normally heals within a few days but it may take up to 2 weeks depending on the size and depth of the defect (wound). Some corneal defects heal much slower than expected. A defect in the cornea that fails to heal within the normal time of 2 weeks despite using the best available medicines and procedures, is known as Persistent Corneal Epithelial Defect (or PCED for short). The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness (risks and benefits) of of NEXAGON ophthalmic gel for the treatment of PCEDs.

Transcatheter Replacement of Stenotic Aortic Valve through Implantation of ACURATE in Subjects InDicatEd for TAVR

Severe aortic valve stenosis can include stiffening and hardening of the heart valve leaflets (tissue that opens and closes in the heart valve) so that the valve cannot work properly. If left untreated, excessive strain put on the heart muscle will eventually cause it to fail or lead to other serious complications. This study is a research project to assess a way of replacing aortic valves without the need for open-heart surgery and without surgically opening the heart to remove the narrowed valve. The device under study is called the ACURATE Transfemoral Aortic Valve System. The study will compare the safety and effectiveness of the ACURATE Valve, along with other commercially available TAVR devices.

Lifestyle Counseling and Medication for Adolescent Weight Management (QUEST)

This study will compare the effectiveness and durability of intensive behavioral counseling vs. medical management plus low-intensity behavioral counseling on BMI, body fat, cardiometabolic risk factors, and quality of life in adolescents with severe obesity. We hypothesize that Wegovy (semaglutide) plus low-intensity behavioral counseling will elicit superior reductions in BMI and body fat and greater improvement in cardiometabolic factors and quality of life compared to intensive behavioral counseling at 56 weeks.

Immune Modulation Associations With Urinary tract Infection In People With Neurogenic Bladder.

The goal of this study is to understand how urine and bladder tissue changes from infection, or a bladder that does not function normally, in people who use a catheter to empty their bladder. This may help future people because it can help determine who needs antibiotics to treat an infection in the bladder, and will help avoid the cost and side effects of using antibiotics in people who do not have a true infection. This study will take less than 1 hour – the time required to provide a urine sample in clinic. Or, if a participant is undergoing bladder Botox injection, the time necessary to participate in the study will add approximately 5 minutes to the total surgery time.

ANHL2121: Phase 2 Study of Tovorafenib (DAY101) in Relapsed and Refractory Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis

This phase II trial tests the safety, side effects, best dose and activity of tovorafenib (DAY101) in treating patients with Langerhans cell histiocytosis that is growing, spreading, or getting worse (progressive), has come back (relapsed) after previous treatment, or does not respond to therapy (refractory). Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a type of disease that occurs when the body makes too many immature Langerhans cells (a type of white blood cell). When these cells build up, they can form tumors in certain tissues and organs including bones, skin, lungs and pituitary gland and can damage them. This tumor is more common in children and young adults. DAY101 may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Using DAY101 may be effective in treating patients with relapsed or refractory Langerhans cell histiocytosis.

• participant must be able to take an enteral dose and formulation of medication. Study medication is only available as an oral suspension or tablet, which may be taken by mouth or other enteral route such as nasogastric, jejunostomy, or gastric tube

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head

The purpose of this research study is to investigate new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods to better detect and monitor osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) before and after treatment. ONFH causes injury to the hip joint that can lead to osteoarthritis (the breaking/wearing down of cartilage & tissues within the joint) and the eventual need for a hip replacement. It can be difficult to detect ONFH early on using current medical imaging techniques, which is when treatments may be the most effective. Furthermore, available treatments are not always effective at preventing the progression (spread or growth) of ONFH. This research may benefit others with ONFH by providing more effective medical imaging tools to detect ONFH earlier and inform treatment decisions to increase the chance of stopping or delaying the progression of ONFH and preventing hip osteoarthritis.

MT2024-07:A Phase 1/2, Open-Label Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Autologous CD19-specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells (CABA-201) in Subjects with Active Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (RESET-SLE)

The purpose of this study is to find out what dose of CABA-201 can be safely administered to patients with SLE, including those with lupus nephritis (LN). SLE is thought to involve B cells that cause the body to attack different tissues in the body including your skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, and blood cells. LN is a type of kidney disease caused by SLE. CABA-201 is a chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR T) therapy. In this study, we will take some of your T cells, a type of white blood cell, and genetically modify them (put in a “code”) so that they may find and remove the B cells in your body, including the B cells that are involved in causing your disease. Once your cells are modified, CABA-201 cells will be re-infused into your body intravenously (through the vein).
